Corfu 6-9th October

Monday - Cheap Ryan Air flight to Corfu - £33 unbelievable!! And due to end of season, a great deal in a 5 star hotel for about $55 a night (although Greek 5 star not quite a UK or USA 5 star! But they did give us a 2 room suite! Must have been Jimmy's smile at checking). Jimmy had taken the bus and ferry up from Vonitsa to Corfu the previous day as concerns about ferries being cancelled due to storms. I think Greece then had a year of rain in a couple of days!

Tuesday - Due to the non stop torrential rain, we were unable to get out of a bar that we had ducked into for coffee, so then sampled the local ouzo.  Subsequently we did not drink anymore ouzo in Corfu!!

We drove all around the island in our 6th rental car (since leaving Bermuda).

The countryside is just covered in olive trees, and the coast is very mountainous. The drive was spectacular, and reminded us of the Amalfi coast in Italy without all the housing and population.

The old town of Corfu is made up of twisty windy streets and alleys between two large ancient castles and forts, with a bit of an Italian flair, being that the Romans conquered it years ago and the Veniceans populated it in the 1500s.  Also a lot of car ferries come through Corfu from Italy with many tourists from Europe.

One of the highlights that Jimmy insisted on in Corfu, was the Foot Fish Spa, the fish swarm and nibble all the dead skin on your feet - How bazaar... And it tickles!!

That night there was some Greek dancing in the hotel.

On Thursday we took the ferry from Corfu to the Greek mainland.
